This role serves as the financial backbone of our production operations, partnering with leadership to drive cost efficiency, margin growth, and operational strategy across the company. The Manufacturing Accounting Manager for Industrial Injection is responsible for analyzing and managing production costs associated with cores, engines, components, and related equipment. This role focuses on tracking raw material usage, labor, and overhead to ensure accurate cost reporting and support strategic pricing, budgeting, and operational efficiency. Working closely with manufacturing, planning, and R&D teams, the Accounting Manager develops and maintains costs, analyzes variances, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives. Industrial Injection is in a period of major expansion, including new facilities and product lines — this role is critical in supporting that growth.
Responsibilities:
- Leads optimization of Microsoft Business Central 365 for costing, inventory, and financial reporting as the company scales operations.
- Researching and comparing suppliers, goods, and services to provide analytical data to support margin calculations and efficiency in production timelines.
- Understand and own the current COGS recording process as well as the receipts recording process. Manage all adjusting entries weekly and reclassifying entries as needed.
- Monthly reconciliations of the Inventory and deposits on future inventory purchases.
- Monthly inventory audits by location and product.
- Labor absorption costing management to include adjustment and auditing.
- Monitoring inventory levels and forecasting purchasing needs.
- Influence cost proposals and negotiating contracts and prices once a product moves from R&D to a stocked or manufactured product.
- Maintaining the system of records of all transactions for the GL including Inventory, Payables, COGS, Cores (AP and AR), Labor absorption, and other categories as needed.
- Manage the process for shipping costs and applying landed costs as necessary to inventory products.
- Support the goal of positive, long-term supplier relations through ownership of the Vendor/Supplier onboarding process.
- Track and advise on Warranty and Supplier chargebacks for defective goods and components and parts, inter-departmental billings, R&D expenses, Promotional & Marketing expenses weekly to support the accuracy of costing.
- Influence the management of SKU’s and UPC’s to support the tracking of inventory and defective items as needed.
- Oversee and maintain the structure for the Operating Budget cost structure and how expenses are coded, tracked and applied by department and location.
- Oversee and maintain the Sales tax compliance strategy including monitoring nexus, registering for sales tax licensing, collecting sales tax and remitting per scheduled requirements by state.
Requirements:
- A strong understanding of diesel manufacturing processes, inventory control, and cost accounting principles is essential for success in this role.
- BS degree in Accounting or Purchasing/Supply chain required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Business Central 365 and inventory management software programs.
- 2-4 Years of Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel user necessary.
- Strong organization and documentation skills.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, GAAP accounting methods.
- Proven ability to independently calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
