Stock Long Block Construction

The Industrial Injection L5P Stock Long Block is built around the customer's existing engine. During the rebuilding process, the engine is inspected to determine the required machining, replacement components, and assembly work.

The completed long block includes the assembled lower engine and cylinder heads with valves and valve springs. Unlike a short block, the long block provides the upper cylinder head assemblies needed to complete the engine foundation.

Final machining operations, rotating assembly components, and included hardware are determined by the approved L5P build specifications.

What's Included

  • Assembled 6.6L L5P Duramax engine block and rotating assembly
  • Assembled cylinder heads
  • Cylinder head valves and valve springs
  • Internal components and machine work specified in the approved engine rebuild

Important: Oil pan, oil pump, pickup tube, harmonic damper, flex plate, fasteners, and other application-specific components should be confirmed against the final build sheet before ordering.

What's Not Included

The following components are not part of the standard Duramax long block assembly unless specifically included in your written quote:

  • Rocker arms and pushrods
  • Fuel injectors and fuel injection system components
  • Turbocharger and associated components

Repair & Return Engine Service

Industrial Injection offers L5P Duramax engine rebuilding through a Repair & Return process. Your existing engine is sent to Industrial Injection for inspection, machining, and rebuilding rather than being exchanged for an engine from available inventory.

Our engine team will review the condition of your engine, confirm the necessary repairs, and establish the final build specifications and pricing.

Contact Industrial Injection before shipping your engine to receive instructions and confirm service availability.

Recommended Components to Inspect

When replacing or rebuilding a Duramax engine, the condition of supporting components plays an important role in the reliability of the completed installation. Industrial Injection recommends evaluating the following:

  • Oil Cooler: Inspect for contamination or damage. Replacement may be necessary following a bearing failure.
  • Fuel Injectors: Test and inspect before transferring them to the rebuilt engine.
  • Turbocharger: Inspect for shaft wear, oil contamination, debris, and other damage.
  • Water Pump: Check for wear, leaks, and proper operation.
  • Fuel System: Identify and correct contamination or component failures before installation.

Warranty & Engine Break-In

Industrial Injection provides warranty coverage according to the approved engine configuration and applicable written engine warranty policy.

Proper installation and break-in are essential. Follow the current Industrial Injection engine break-in instructions, including the required break-in oil and initial oil change interval. Confirm warranty registration requirements with the engine team.
