Product Description:
Duramax 130lb Valve Spring Kit (LB7–LML)
Designed for high-boost and high-RPM Duramax builds, this 130lb valve spring kit helps prevent valve float and maintain consistent valvetrain control under load.
Upgrade your valvetrain with the Industrial Injection 130lb Duramax Valve Spring Kit, built for 6.6L Duramax engines running increased boost pressure and elevated engine speeds. As boost and RPM climb, factory valve springs can lose control—leading to valve float, power loss, and potential valvetrain damage.
This kit is engineered to provide the spring pressure and stability needed to keep valves controlled in demanding applications, allowing your engine to safely support more power.
When Do You Need Upgraded Duramax Valve Springs?
Upgrading valve springs becomes critical when your build pushes beyond factory limits. This kit is recommended for:
-
Trucks running 45+ PSI of boost
-
Builds exceeding ~3,200 RPM under load
-
Larger turbo or upgraded fueling setups
-
Performance, towing, or high-horsepower applications
If your setup is pushing airflow and cylinder pressure beyond stock levels, upgraded valve springs are a key reliability upgrade—not just a performance add-on.
Built for Durability and Control
Each kit includes precision-matched components designed to maintain consistent valve control under demanding conditions:
-
Conical valve spring design for improved stability
-
Billet steel retainers for strength and reliability
-
Chromoly spring seats for durability under load
-
Valve locks for secure, consistent assembly
This combination helps maintain valvetrain integrity across a wide range of performance applications—from street-driven trucks to competition builds.

Why Upgrade Duramax Valve Springs?
As boost pressure and engine speed increase, factory valve springs can lose the ability to control the valve motion precisely. This condition—known as valve float—can reduce engine efficiency and lead to premature wear or failure.
Upgrading to a 130lb valve spring kit improves valve control, helping your Duramax maintain proper timing and stability under higher cylinder pressures.
The Industrial Injection 130lb Duramax Valve Spring Kit is designed to support increased performance while maintaining the reliability needed for real-world use.
Frequently Asked Questions
When should I upgrade my Duramax valve springs?
You should consider upgrading your valve springs when your build exceeds factory limits—typically around 45+ PSI of boost, higher RPM operation (3,200+), or when running larger turbochargers and upgraded fueling. Stock springs can lose control under these conditions, leading to valve float.
What is valve float and why is it a problem?
Valve float occurs when the valve springs cannot control the valves at higher engine speeds or cylinder pressures. This can lead to loss of power, poor engine efficiency, and in severe cases, valvetrain damage. Upgraded valve springs help maintain proper valve control under load.
Are 130lb valve springs enough for my Duramax build?
130lb valve springs are ideal for most performance builds, including trucks running higher boost, upgraded turbos, and increased fueling. For extreme race applications or very high RPM builds, additional valvetrain upgrades may be required.
Do I need to remove the cylinder heads to install these valve springs?
Installation can be performed with the cylinder heads on the engine using the proper tools, but it requires experience and care. Many builders choose to install valve springs during a head-off build for easier access and inspection.
What other upgrades should I consider with valve springs?
Depending on your build, it may be beneficial to upgrade pushrods, head studs, and other valvetrain components. These upgrades work together to improve reliability and performance under higher boost and cylinder pressure.
Are these valve springs suitable for towing applications?
Yes, these valve springs are commonly used in towing builds where increased boost and sustained load can stress the valvetrain. They help maintain stability and reliability under heavy use.
Will upgrading valve springs increase horsepower?
Valve springs do not directly increase horsepower, but they allow your engine to safely support higher boost and RPM levels. This enables other performance upgrades to operate effectively without valvetrain limitations.
Are these compatible with all Duramax engines?
This kit is designed for 2001–2016 6.6L Duramax engines, including LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM, and LML platforms.
